Dinner with Strangers is an opportunity for Gettysburg students to socialize and network with alumni of the College while enjoying a lovely meal! Alumni and parents host students for an evening of good food and conversation. By the end of the evening, strangers have become friends.
Dinner with Strangers is scheduled each January before the start of the spring semester. Complete our volunteer form to get started.
Quotes from 2008 Alumni and Parent Volunteers:
Carrie James '02 - Why did you host a Dinner with Strangers? I remember how hard it was to graduate from college and not have an answer to the question "what's next?" Anything I can do to help point Gettysburg students in the right direction, I will do.
Robert Matthews '70 - Were your expectations met? Yes, because I always expect to enjoy interacting with students and other young people who are looking forward to building their lives and careers. [...] It would have been hard not to enjoy the evening.
Kirsten Howard '94 - Describe the interactions with the students: Both students arrived ready to network. We spent a lot of time talking about the changes at Gettysburg (and what has stayed the same. We compared professors, spoke about Greek life (all of us were involved), and discussed job search ideas.
