The White House Clinics is a community health center which receives special funding each year from the federal government to provide primary health care to everyone regardless of their ability to pay. Without this clinic, there would be no health care for the 11,000 people of the county it serves. Extern will have the opportunity to shadow health care providers and see first-hand how rural communities meet their health care needs.

Women & Infants’ Hospital

Considering a career in mental health? The extern will have the opportunity to see a team of mental health professionals including nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers treat women with prenatal and postpartum mood disorders such as depression.  The Day Hospital is a mother/infant unit and the infant’s mental health, attachment and bonding is also addressed with patients in treatment.

From homicide trials to drug court cases, shadow a judge and learn firsthand how decisions are made in a court of law. Externs will be privy to all in chambers conferences as well as in courtroom proceedings.
