Mock Interview Preparation
Mock Interview Preparation
To make the practice interview as realistic as possible, we suggest you do the following BEFORE your interview:
-
Prepare your resume. If you are meeting with an alumnus or parent you will need to provide your resume to them 2 days in advance. As with a real interview, questions will be prepared from your resume.
-
Obtain and read a copy of our Effective Interviewing handout. If possible, attend an Interviewing Skills workshop.
-
If this is a practice employment interview, use the Career Development resources to explore the type of position/career field for which you might be interviewing (online and in-office library).
-
Bring a copy of your resume with you to the practice interview (as you would if it were a real interview).
-
Make sure you know about the company or the school for which you are practice interviewing. Research ahead of time will help!
-
Arrive early (10-15 minutes).
-
Dress as you would for an actual interview --- professionally.
