Catholic Campus Ministry
at Gettysburg College
About us

Campus ministers from the Diocese of Harrisburg serve the Catholic students at Gettysburg College.

Father Caesar Belchez is the pastor of St. Joseph the Worker Church in nearby Bonneauville and shares his time between the parish and campus.

Susan Collinge is a lay Catholic Campus Minister, employed by the Diocese to work with the Catholic community on campus.

CCM offices are located in the basement of Christ Chapel (corner of Washington and Stevens streets). Come in and visit!

Pastoral Counseling

Your campus ministers are trained religious professionals and can help you sort through issues in your own life. Sometimes all you really need is someone to listen to you, just so that you can hear what you're saying. CCM staff members are good at listening, and you are always welcome to stop in and stay a while, whether you are wrestling with tough decisions, the news from home or questions of faith. We don't have all the answers, but we are committed to "walking" along with you as you undertake this search.

What Catholic Campus Ministry Can Do For You

Catholic Campus Ministry (CCM) brings people together to share faith, encourage service and community action, and foster a caring community among students, faculty and staff at Gettysburg College. Catholic Campus Ministry can help you:

  • Grow spiritually College is a time to identify your values and develop practices that sustain and nurture your beliefs.
  • Develop as an individual Every student is unique and has experienced a variety of different influences. CCM provides a comfortable space in which to be yourself and come to terms with your own heritage while you expand your horizons.
  • Put things together In class you acquire information and skills and learn how to think critically. CCM contributes to your education as a whole person by offering opportunities to reflect on what you learn, clarify your values, and make life choices consistent with those values. It provides a supportive environment for listening to the call of God in your own life.
  • Experience community You can meet people and make friends through the various programs sponsored by CCM and Newman Association.
Are You Interested In Becoming Catholic?

The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) provides an opportunity for students to learn more about the Catholic faith. RCIA is offered whenever college students inquire about the possibility of becoming Catholic. Taking part in this dynamic process in no way obliges you to become Catholic but allows you a chance to explore Catholic teachings and practices so that you can make your own decision based on firsthand knowledge and experience. For more information, contact the CCM office.
