Welcome to Gettysburg

I wanted to take the opportunity early to be in touch.  I join a whole host of members of the Gettysburg College community who are glad that you are here and have decided to matriculate at Gettysburg College. Welcome!

I am Pastor Joseph Donnella, the chaplain of Gettysburg College.  Students have nicknamed me Pastor D.  My purpose in writing is to welcome you to share in our worship and community life.

I know that you have a choice about what you will do regarding spiritual/religious practices.  No one at Gettysburg will force you to do anything.  After decades of working in higher education, I believe I am aware more than most clergy of the challenges and obstacles young people face in dealing with religious and spiritual matters.  Whatever you decide, please take advantage of the opportunities for prayer, worship and dialogue offered here at the College.

Our first Sunday worship offering is 11:00 am, August 28^th by Master's Fountain. Everyone is welcome. Dress casually, relax, come meet friends and enjoy the beautiful serenity of the campus.  Our student leaders and staff all look forward to greeting you and becoming better acquainted.
