Faculty Funding Available!
The Center for Public Service invites applications for one-time funds provided by The President's Council to support faculty development and course implementation as it relates to service-learning and other community-engaged pedagogies (such as community-based research). Funds will be awarded on merit and a first-come, first-served basis each semester (there may not be funding available by the final deadline in each semester). All applications will be reviewed by representatives of the Center for Public Service and the Provost's Office. Resources for planning and implementing community engaged courses are available at the Center for Public Service and its website for faculty.
For Course Implementation
If you are interested in obtaining these funds, please send Gretchen Carlson Natter (gnatter@gettysburg.edu) a short description of the course, the relationship of the proposed community project to student learning goals, the benefit provided to the community partner and a brief budget describing the costs associated with the project (e.g., transportation, supplies related to service, training, course assistants, etc.). Funds can be used to defray costs for the community partner agency in supporting student involvement.
For Faculty Development/Conference Presentations
Please send Gretchen Carlson Natter (gnatter@gettysburg.edu) a short description of the conference/workshop, what you hope to gain by attendance, a potential follow-up plan for implementing new ideas, and a budget for participation. For ideas about potential conferences, contact Gretchen. Funding amounts will follow those established by the Provost's office (up to $800 for conferences in North America, up to $1500 for conferences outside of North America).
