JULIAN AGYEMAN, Professor, Activist and Author will address the community for the 25th Annual Fall Convocation on Thursday, November 13 from 11:30-1:00pm in the Christ Chapel.

| Julian Agyeman is Associate Professor, and Chair of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University, Medford, MA. He is co-founder, and co-editor of the international journal 'Local Environment: The International Journal of Justice and Sustainability'. With over 130 publications, his recent books include ‘Just Sustainabilities: Development in an Unequal World' (MIT Press 2003), 'Sustainable Communities and the Challenge of Environmental Justice' (NYU Press 2005) and 'The New Countryside? Ethnicity, Nation and Exclusion in Contemporary Rural Britain (The Policy Press 2006). He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts (FRSA), a member of the Board of the Center for Whole Communities in Vermont and is on the Editorial Boards of Environment: Science and Policy for Sustainable Development, Environmental Communication: A Journal of Nature and Culture, Sustainability: Science, Practice and Policy, The Journal of Environmental Education, and the Australian Journal of Environmental Education. Julian Agyeman's research, writing and advocacy work focuses on the connection between sustainability and environmental justice. He will speak about the importance of uniting the two movements to create "just sustainability" and thus making our communities more equitable. |

| HISTORY OF ALL CONVOCATION AT GETTYSBURG COLLEGE
Fall Convocation was initiated by a group of Gettysburg College students in the 1980s who were concerned that the campus did not gather often enough to engage in conversations around current issues. Today's Fall Convocation is a continuation of this tradition of students engaging in and advocating for change in our nation and world. Past speakers for Fall Convocation:
