Dear Friends,
This report is a celebration of partnership - of so many committed individuals working together to create a new vision and practice of community.
I am pleased to share that we have been recognized for that work together. In December 2006, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching awarded the Community Engagement classification to Gettysburg College and our many partners in the local community and beyond, in both curricular engagement and outreach and partnerships. This distinction represents the commitment and hard work of partners across the campus and the communities with whom we work. It is recognition of the significant educational role each of us plays in our students' lives and the potential we have for creating positive change with our communities through education, action and reflection.
It is these four elements that define the work of the Center for Public Service: partnership, education, informed action and critical thinking.

In this brochure , you will find our mission statement, which focuses on the quality of our shared work, challenging us to keep partnership central as we engage in the work of community intellectually, actively and reflectively. Truly seeking to think critically and act compassionately.
For your dedication to this process, we thank you and commit to continually strengthening the partnerships and work we share.
Peace,
Gretchen Carlson Natter
