Gettysburg College will have the first Campus Kitchen in Pennsylvania! The project is being led by students Louisa Polos and Cassie Sanford. Louisa first learned about The Campus Kitchens Project as a volunteer of DC Central Kitchen. She left inspired by the experience and wanted to start a program at her school. In October 2006, Louisa returned to Washington, DC, to participate in the third annual CKP Leadership Conference. The knowledge she gained from this event helped her and a group of fellow students complete the implementation at Gettyburg College which included four student volunteers (Louisa, Cassie Sheets, Cody Georgia, and Melissa Arsenie) attending the 2007 CKP Boot Camp this August. The Campus Kitchen at Gettysburg College is working in partnership with South Central Community Action Programs (SCCAP). All food will be stored there and meals will be prepared in their commercial kitchen.
