Restaurants: How to Donate

The Campus Kitchen at Gettysburg College needs your help to continue operations. We rely on donations from local restaurants, farms, and other organizations in order to provide weekly meals to community partners. All donors are protected from liability by the Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act, which the United States Congress passed in 1996. This act has allowed donors across the nation to support an effective effort in fighting hunger.

There are two ways to donate to the Campus Kitchen at Gettysburg College. Please read the Instructions for Food Donations to ensure safe and sanitary donations.

Weekly Regular Pickup
This option necessitates that you regularly accumulate enough surplus that each a weekly pickup is possible. As long as food is properly refrigerated or frozen, surplus can be accumulated over several days in order to justify a pickup. We will come to you.

Call-In Basis
You can call or email us when your restaurant or cafeteria has had a large party, cancelled job, or a freezer goes down (or if you rather, we can contact you regularly to check). We will dispatch a driver as soon as possible and will make every effort to schedule a pickup on the same day.
