The Inaugural Garthwait Leadership Summit was presented by the Garthwait Leadership Center on Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. in Kline Theatre.

Fellow Gettysburg students and alumni engaged in an afternoon of discussion and dialogue exploring real life examples of leadership in action. The event featured a panel of Gettysburgians who told stories about how core leadership competencies endorsed by the GLC have been essential in their careers, community involvement, family life, etc. Neil Bryant ’82, Vice President, Sales Development, US&C at Carestream Health, Inc. and GLC Advisory Council member facilitated the discussion. Refreshments and networking were available before and after the panel.

The panel included the following distinguished alumni:

• Rev. Dr. Donna Osterhoudt Schapers, '69 - Senior Minister of Judson Memorial Church in New York City
• Dr. G. Andrew Mickley, '70 - Emeritus Professor and Founding Chair of the Neuroscience Program and Emeritus Professor, Department of Psychology at Baldwin-Wallace University 
• Troy Datcher '90 - Sales Merchandising Manager, The Clorox Company
• Laura Strickler '95 - Producer, CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley
