Programs & Expeditions

The professional staff from the Office of Experiential Education and the student staff of the Gettysburg Recreational Adventure Board, are pleased to offer 45 programs and expeditions annually to the members of our campus community.

Students

Students are provided ample opportunities to participate on our programs. Each week we sponsor at least one day hike, kayaking, or climbing trip for the campus. These cost $5.00 for a full day spent off campus enjoying the surrounding area. In addition, students can participate in Reading Days programs, WinterFest, and our Summer Expeditions.

Parents & Alumni

Parents and alumni are provided at least two to three longer trips each year. Many programs are international treks, where your luggage is shuttled ahead each day while we hike, and the evenings are spent enjoying a wonderful meal and relaxing in very nice bed & breakfast.

Faculty & Employees

Faculty and employees are able to take full advantage of our services and programs. We offer our challenge course, the Den, and custom-designed wilderness programs to both complement the classroom experience and assist with professional development. We also provide our colleagues the ability to participate in expeditions, as well as develop unique opportunities for a cohort of colleagues such as our sea kayaking program for faculty through the Johnson Center for Creative Teaching, or our annual Mountain Man Madness winter extravaganza.

Community

Whether you represent a club, school group, or organization we welcome all community members to take advantage of our challenge course and indoor climbing wall.  In addition, we provide a wide range of professional development opportunities for individuals in the wilderness education field, to companies looking for leadership experiences for their team, and are constantly looking for new areas to extend our programming.
