GRAB
GRAB Staff 2005-2006 Cochise Stronghold, AZ
Backcountry Climbing Wilderness Institute
Students of GRAB (Gettysburg Recreational Adventure Board) are hired to provide a unique service to the Gettysburg College campus community, alumni, and parents. These students recieve 400 hours of training and field experience annually to facilitate climbing, sea kayaking, backpacking, and challenge course programs for our College. The students who facilitate for the GRAB program participate in a selective hiring process that takes place each September. Within their three to four years in the program, they begin by leading trips to our local crags and waterways with the understanding that within a few short years they are able to lead trips to locations such Yosemite, Baja, Alaska, and Scotland.
In addition to incredible student facilitators, the program would not be nearly as strong if not for the continued support of our GRAB alumni. With their on going guidance and dedication, many of these former Gettysburg College students leave their busy professional lives to assist us in the field or in our program & staff trainings.
