Winter break is a time to spend with friends and family, an opportunity to catch up on sleep, and a well-deserved recess from the stress of classes. For a few weeks.

After the holidays some of the magic fades. You start sleeping in later; noon, one, one thirty. When you wake up your brother is already gone, and the car with him. Now you’re stuck.  And now your grandpa is watching golf again—you suspect it’s a replay and he seems to be asleep anyway, but he’s eighty-seven so you let it go. Besides, it’s two in the afternoon on a Tuesday and you’ve seen enough infomercials for one break. Another week passes—slowly—and your friends all leave for school. Desperate for stimulation, you turn to old books and count down the minutes (10,080) until you can escape to something more invigorating. To a place where you will experience something new again.

GRAB Adirondacks

GRAB has you covered with our week-long expeditions starting January 11th. These trips are subsidized by the office of experiential education and designed by GRAB facilitators just for Gettysburg students. Escape the cold and immerse yourself in the culture and natural beauty of Georgia’s southernmost barrier island while backpacking; paddle through channels, bays, and history in the South Sea Islands; or push yourself to face winter head on ice climbing and snowshoeing in the Adirondacks. If you’re looking for a change of scenery, to be exposed to new people and things, or to challenge yourself, you’ve come to the right place. Sign up for one of GRAB’s Winterfest trips before everyone else does.
