Principles:

The nickname for our Fraternity is the Lions.  We have more nationally recognized brothers than any other national fraternity. The brothers in our fraternity are heavily involved in sports and activities such as football, soccer, baseball, basketball, track and field, wrestling, and several different intramural sports.  We also are involved in philanthropies such as the Chris Clifford Run, Big Brother Big Sister, Autism Walk and the Special Olympics.

We have been on the Gettysburg campus since 1883.  Our values have been embraced by more than 270,000 men since our founding in 1856, making Sigma Alpha Epsilon the largest social fraternity in North America.  Sigma Alpha Epsilon first established a national headquarters in 1929, a national Leadership School in 1935, a national Men's Health Issues Committee in 1980, and the Leading Edge, a career-development program, in 1990, making it the first organization in the Greek world for each.  On the National level a few of our famous alumni are William McKinley, Elliot Ness, David Spade, Phil Jackson, Dennis Erickson, William Faulkner, General Richard Myers, Ernie Harwell, Tony Boselli, Nick Lachey, Fred Savage, and Joe Walt.
