Services and Fees
Health Services provides a range of primary health care services appropriate for a college age population. We can also assist in arranging for services that we cannot provide on campus. Some of the services we provide include:
Assessment
For appointments with a nurse practitioner for evaluation and treatment - call x6970
Management of Stable Chronic Illness
Nurse practitioners can review current therapy, assist with adapting to college environment and coordinate care with home providers (i.e. asthma, diabetes, eating disorders).
Self-Care Cold Clinic
Located in Health Center - Student can follow flow sheet instructions on evaluating cold symptoms and learn to decide if they can use over the counter remedies or need to see a health care provider.
Stress Management
Coordinate with Counseling Services to assist with evaluating stress and exploring techniques to control or relieve stress and its effects.
STD Diagnosis
Nurse Practitioners can discuss sexually transmitted infections, signs, symptoms and risk factors along with testing methods and treatments.
Immunizations
Staff can assist students in acquiring immunizations needed to meet college requirements or those needed to participate in college programs
Allergy Injections
Students requiring allergy injections can arrange appointments to receive these at the Health Service. Serum and instructions must be provided by your allergist. There is an administration fee for this service (see Health Services fee list)
In-House Laboratory
Health Services can do on site throat cultures, urinalysis and pregnancy testing. In collaboration with Quest Labs, other testing can be sent out. We will assist students with coordinating insurance information for Quest Labs to bill for tests sent out.
Women's Health Care
The Nurse Practitioner can provide information and services to educate and assist women in maintaining health. These include confidential gynecological exams, PAP tests, contraceptive education and pregnancy testing.
Pregnancy Testing
In-house pregnancy urine testing can be done for free after an initial confidential appointment with a nurse practitioner.
Contraceptive Services
Appointments with nurse practitioners can be arranged to discuss education regarding choosing to be sexually active, contraceptive options, uses, effectiveness and costs; includes a physical exam and pap test.
Health Education
Various topics of health education are provided at all visits. Appointments can be made to discuss any health issue a student may have. Group presentations on a chosen topic can be arranged by calling extension 6970.
