Road Trip May 21

Utah Highway

May 21 - Red Rock Cliffs and Negro Bill Canyon

A late night arrival at our campsite meant that students woke up amazed at the red rock cliffs surrounding us.  It was a drastic change from the Rockies.  We drove down Route 128 to Moab past Fisher's Valley with the sunrise lighting up the canyons and LaSalle Mountains in the background.  Because we arrived a half day early, we hiked Negro Bill Canyon today.  This was a good hike for deciding on trail names for each other.  Tonight we will stay at a Hostel in Moab in order to avoid getting soaked by the expected evening thunderstorms.

  • Unexpected detail: Filling up water bottles from a natural spring.
  • Tonight: Catch the local sights.
  • New experience: Ashley, Dominique and Dave toasted the day with a jalapeno beer.
