Welcome to the Catholic community on campus! This is an exciting time for you, and our prayers are with you as you begin this new phase of your life's journey.
Catholic Campus Ministry at Gettysburg College is served by two Campus Ministers, assigned by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg. Father Daniel Richards is the assistant at nearby St. Francis Xavier Parish in Gettysburg and serves as our spiritual leader. Susan Collinge is a lay Catholic Campus Minister for Gettysburg College. Our office in the basement of Christ Chapel is open many hours each week, and it is easy to reach us by telephone at other times.
We start the year off with mass on Sunday, August 31, at 5 pm in Christ Chapel, followed by a picnic on the Chapel lawn. We're really looking forward to meeting you!
Besides Sunday Evening Mass at 5 pm in Christ Chapel, our regular weekly schedule includes Bible Study on Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 pm, Thursday Evening Mass at 5:15 pm, and Newman Association meetings on alternate Thursdays, 6-7 pm. (Plan to stop by for the first Newman Association meeting, in Norris-Wachob Alumni House, on Thursday, September 11, at 6 pm. There will be pizza.)
We'll begin the year by asking you how you would like to get involved. We need you, as lectors, greeters, extraordinary ministers, singers and musicians. We just said goodbye to some great students from the class of 2014 and we're counting on you to step up and take their places.
Check out the rest of the website for more information, but mark your calendar now for our Fall Retreat for Busy Students on Friday, September 26, 7-10 pm, in Glatfelter Lodge. We know there will be lots of competition for your time during these first few weeks on campus, so we've designed the retreat with your schedule in mind. Don't miss this opportunity to grow in your relationship with God and get to know others on campus who share your Catholic Faith.
