Graduating seniors may remain on campus through commencement, but must vacate their residence hall by 10:00 p.m. on the day of Commencement (Sunday, May 18, 2014). However, graduating seniors are welcome to request an extension to stay on campus until Monday, May 19th at 10:00 a.m.
Please note there are several spaces on campus that are NOT open for senior week, specifically the first year residence halls, houses where there is only one senior as well as the residence halls we use for summer housing.
Graduating seniors will receive communications from the Office of Residential & First-Year Programs in April regarding more specific details about senior week housing.
Most senior students live in apartments and can underestimate the amount of time it takes to completely move out. It would be beneficial to start the packing process WELL BEFORE SENIOR WEEK and have most non-essential items ready to move out. That will certainly ease the burden on graduation weekend.
Seniors requesting an extension must be COMPLETELY moved out of their apartment by 10:00 A.M. on Monday, May 19th. Our housekeeping staff will enter buildings at that time and will prepare the campus for summer conferences. In addition, our facilities staff will start summer projects at that time. Graduates who vacate later than Monday at 10:00 A.M. will be subject to a $50 fine for each hour they are late.
DON'T FORGET TO TURN IN YOUR KEY BEFORE YOU LEAVE!!! Failure to return your key will result in a $115-$215 lock change fee, so please make sure to return it to avoid the charge!
