Honors Housing provides a 24-hour quiet environment for selected students. Current Juniors who have at least a 3.25 overall GPA, current Sophomores who have at least a 3.5 overall GPA, and current First-Year students who have at least a 3.5 overall GPA are given highest consideration for Honors Theme Housing.  Applicants may not be under any current disciplinary sanctions in order to qualify for this housing.  Students will be selected to live in one of the Honors Houses by class standing, GPA, application, and recommendation. If there are a large number of applicants, lottery numbers may be used to determine selection.

Honors housing is typically located at 215 N. Washington (two doubles and four singles) and the Hutchison House (two doubles and seven singles).

Expectations and Requirements

Honors Housing residents are expected to:

  • Attend occasional house meetings scheduled by the house leader or Residence Life staff member
  • Abide by 24-hour quiet hours
  • Take full responsibility for maintaining a clean community and personal living space
  • Adhere to the guidelines set forth in the Student Handbook and Guidebook

There is a mimimum GPA requirement for Honors Housing:
Juniors: 3.25 overall GPA
Sophomores and First-Years: 3.5 overall GPA

Students applying for the Honors Housing must also be in good conduct standing with the College.  Current First-Year students must have at least 6 FYE points to be eligible. 

Applicants are subject to a review of academic and conduct records and FYE completion.

Amenities

Honors Housing is usually placed in Hutchison House (2 doubles and 7 singles) or 215 N. Washington Street (2 doubles and 4 singles). Single rooms are billed as Plan 1.  Double rooms are billed as Plan 3.

At the Office of Residence Life’s discretion, the above facilities can be changed depending on the number of Honors Housing applicants.

Timeline

Online Application Deadline: Friday, February 8 by 5:00 PM
Acceptance Notification: Monday, February 25
Room Selection: Evening of Tuesday, February 26

Placement of theme housing is concluded prior to spring break, so if you are not selected to participate in theme housing, you will receive a lottery number for online housing selection beginning in March.
