Our Mission

The Department of Public Safety is committed to the provision of high-quality, continuously improving, community service oriented patrolling (CSOP) safety and security services designed to provide a safe and secure environment where community members can work, live, and pursue their academic and professional endeavors. Departmental members are an integral part of Gettysburg College's educational mission ensuring the organization's protection, service, and enforcement efforts are accomplished in a manner consistent with the philosophy and strategy of CSOP

Safety and Security welcomes all conference groups and attendees. Conference parking is available in the Staduim, Stone and Constitution parking lots.

Gettysburg Fire Fact:

 

An intentional act against a sprinkler system in the fall semester 2005 caused $45,000 in water damages in Patrick Hall.  The sprinkler head was broken by shooting a BB gun pellet and hitting the fusible link that activates the water.  The water flowed for less then twenty minutes.
