Director of Public Safety - The Director of Public Safety performs a variety of administrative, managerial, supervisory and programmatic tasks which support the security, law enforcement, emergency medical and risk reduction services, and other services related to the campus population.  The Director is responsible for the overall protection of life and property at Gettysburg College.  This responsibility is accomplished by identifying, communicating, and defining objectives and responsibilities of subordinates and their delegating authority in order to provide optimum support and the promotion of campus safety.  The position is responsible for managing the operational services, safety services, administrative functions, and investigative functions of the Department.  A primary function of the position is to provide strategic leadership to staff members with respect to the CSOP philosophy and strategy and principles, techniques, and tactics associated with community-policing, and other departmental quality improvement initiatives.

Life and Fire Safety Manager - The Life and Fire Safety Manager assists the Director and Associate Director in the administration of the Department of Public Safety's Life and Fire Safety duties and overall responsibilities in accordance with the institution's policies, strategic agenda, and board of trustee's life safety initiative.  The position is responsible for maintaining and implementing the life and fire safety service functions of the Department; to include records management; personnel management; CSOP (Community Service Oriented Patrolling); fire alarm system/component testing, inspections, and maintenance; fire extinguisher required checks and maintenance; building/residence hall life/fire safety audits/inspections; fire drills; sprinkler alarm system testing; other related life and fire safety functions as mandated by the Director and/or Associate Director; and Departmental quality control initiatives.  The life and fire safety coordinator provides for the general safety and security of the college community by delivering special department services regarding fire and environmental conditions.
