2005 Haaland Hall Fire

A small fire in an apartment style kitchen caused over $10,000 in damages.  Cooking fires are the # 1 cause of fires in residential living including colleges and universities. According to the National Fire Protection Agency(NFPA): during a three year period from 1999 to 2001 the leading area of origin was the kitchen with 39% of all resident hall fires of which 41% of those fires were cooking related.
