Student Learning Goals & Outcomes Assessed during 2005-2006

Co-curricular learning goals: The intended program outcomes are derived from the following co-curricular learning goals:

• Collaboration and Teamwork:
  • Exhibit ability to develop group purpose and desired outcomes
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of healthy group norms
  • Challenge unhealthy group norms and behaviors consistent with ideals
  • Display strong relationships in the face of challenging situations and decisions
• Ethical Decision Making:
  • Recognize the need for balance between freedom and responsibility
  • Make decisions on the basis of personal, ethical, spiritual and moral values
• Effective Communication:
  • Ask thoughtful questions
  • Recognize that actions communicate individual and group values

Intended program outcomes: Through participation in the Student Conduct Review Board, members are expected to enhance their abilities/attitudes/understanding in the following areas:

• Understand college policy and its role in community development
• Learn the hearing process and its role at Gettysburg College
• Describe how the student conduct process holds students accountable
• Understand the establishment of group norms around sanctioning
• Understand the importance of collaboration with students, administration and faculty in the student conduct process
• Articulate the goals of the student conduct process
• Learn how to make unbiased and impartial decisions through a thorough review of information available
