Carolyn Snively

Snively has taught at Gettysburg College since 1982; she chaired the Department of Classics from 1988 to 1998. Her interests are focused on ecclesiastical architecture, death and burial, and urbanism in the Roman and Late Antique periods, with a geographical emphasis on Macedonia and the Balkan Peninsula. She excavated for many seasons at Stobi, a Hellenistic, Roman and Early Byzantine site in the Republic of Macedonia, and with other members of the Stobi team is working on the final publication of the site. Snively is the American co-director of the Gettysburg College-Museum of Macedonia Excavation Project at Konjuh, an aarly Byzantine city site in the Republic of Macedonia.
