Expertise:
Drury has more than 20 yeas of experience in the field of sports medicine and his current research focuses on exercise-induced hypoalgesia. This phenomenon is characterized by a temporary desensitization of one's ability to sense pain both during and after exercise. He also has expertise in cardiovascular physiology, neuromuscular physiology, strength training and human performance. Drury has published numerous articles and chapters in the field of sports medicine and is featured on a three-part video series entitled Advanced Strength training from Human Kinetics.
Professional Achievements:
Currently co-chair of the health sciences department, Drury is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), where he has also served as president of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter. Currently, he serves ACSM as a member of the credentials committee. He has received numerous grants to fund his research and has received certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, ACSM, the American Society of Exercise Physiologists and others.
Educational Background:
Drury earned a bachelor's degree in Health and Fitness from Frostburg State University; a master's degree in Exercise Science from George Washington University; and a doctoral degree in Exercise Physiology from Springfield College.
