Welcome to Self Management of Passwords (SMOP)


Using SMOP, you can Enroll, Unlock/Reset your password and Change your password.

Enrollment in SMOP allows you to change your password at a later time if you have forgotten your password.  But you must be enrolled before using this service.  Instructions to Enroll in SMOP.

Unlock/Reset your password in SMOP when you have forgotten your password.  You must already be enrolled in SMOP to use this service.  Instructions to Unlock/Reset your password in SMOP.

Change Password in SMOP you must know your current password.  This will change your password for CNAV, CMS, Windows, Outlook, Moodle and Unix).  Instructions to Change your password in SMOP.

Instructions For SMOP Enrollment:

1. Open your web browser and go to Gettysburg College's Password Tool (SMOP).

2. Click on Enroll tab in the left column.  Enter your Gettysburg login User Name and Password.  Domain should be set to Gettysburg.

3. Click the Login button.

4. Select and answer at least two security questions.

5. Click the Update button.


Instructions For Changing Your Password:

1. Open your web browser and go to Gettysburg College's Password Tool (SMOP).

2. Click the Change Password tab in the left column.

3. Enter your Gettysburg College User Name and Current password (use your windows/outlook email password). 

4. Set a New Password using the specified rules. 

5. Reconfirm Password.

6. Click the Change password button.

NOTE: Do not press the Back button on your web browser during the change password process!


Instructions to Unlock/Reset Your Password that You have Forgotten (you must have already been Enrolled in SMOP to use this service):

1. Open your web browser and go to Gettysburg College's Password Tool (SMOP).

2. Click on the Reset Password/ Unlock Account tab.

3. Enter your Gettysburg College Username.

4. Click the Continue button.

5. Enter the security questions that you selected during enrollment.

6. Click the Continue button.

7. Enter New Password following the specified rules.

8. Reconfirm Password.

9. Click the Reset Password button.


Password Rules:

Your password must:

  • Passwords must be at least 6 characters in length
  • Passwords must contain at least 1 uppercase character
  • Passwords must contain at least 1 lowercase character
  • Passwords must contain at least 1 number
  • Past 3 passwords cannot be used
