My Computer Is Slow
If your computer is slow, you may need to run the Disk Defragmenter tool built in to Windows. This program reorganizes files on your hard drive to optimize the time it takes to read and write files to/from on your hard drive. Select your operating system from below for step-by-step instructions on how to run Disk Defragmenter. If this does not help, you may have a virus. Click here for help removing viruses and spyware.

Disk Defragmenter in Windows XP
Click start. Select All Programs. Select Accessories. Select System Tools. Click on Disk Defragmenter.

Unless you specifically know otherwise, select your C: drive. Click Defragment at the bottom of the window.

Click start and type "defrag" into the search bar. Click on "Disk Defragmenter" when it appears.

When the program opens, click on "Defragment now..."

You should defragment any drive that you use frequently. If you are unsure, select C:.

Click start and type "defrag" into the search bar. Click on "Disk Defragmenter" (not "defrag") when it appears.

When the program opens, select C:\ under "Disk" and click on "Defragment disk"
