How do I configure Outlook to receive my Gettysburg e-mail?

If you want to use Outlook to check your e-mail instead of WebAccess, there are several steps you need to take in order to set this up.
  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Make sure you are in Classic View and then select Mail.
  3. Select Email Accounts. And then click Add new account.
  4. You will be asked what type of account you are going to use, for Gettysburg e-mail you will be using an Exchange Server account.
  5. The exchange server you will be connecting to is "exchstu" and then enter your Gettysburg User name.
  6. Click Finish and Outlook should begin downloading your e-mail from the server.

How would I put up an away message in Outlook?

If you are using Outlook, click on Tools and the Out of Office Assistant to set up an away message.

If you are using Outlook WebAccess you will need to click on Settings and then set your away message.

What happens to my e-mail after I graduate?

A couple of months after your graduate from Gettysburg (usually July 1st), your account will be removed from the system. This includes your e-mail, calendar, H drive, and CNAV account. If you would like to save any past e-mail you should save the messages to your computer's hard drive. You can also apply for an alumni cnav account, this will allow you to have a forwarding address from Gettysburg College at USER_NAME@alumni.gettysburg.edu.

I got an e-mail saying I am over my limit, what do I do?

Gettysburg College students are given 500 MB for their e-mail on the servers. If you go over this limit you will not be able to receive any e-mail and will receive a notification that you are over the allowed limit. A couple ways to clean out your e-mail are to delete any e-mails you don't need, empty the deleted items folder, and delete any e-mails that have large attachments.

You can check to see if you are within the limit by right-clicking on your username in the left-hand toolbar and selecting properties. Then click the folder size button on the window that appears on your screen. If the total size is not below 150,000 KB you are still over the limit.
