Sharing the Workload
Michael Strickland, Assistant Professor of Physics, studies
the formation of atoms after the big bang. He records data from the
collision between the nuclei of two gold atoms at speeds approaching the
speed of light. Processing this data requires that he solve large systems
of partial differential equations. Each step in the solution process would
bring a typical computer to its knees.

Virtually Limitless
Email
Thanks to its investment in new storage technologies, IT now
offers virtually limitless email storage to all employees. The key to this
improvement is the addition of flexible network storage for archiving old
emails. This new storage eliminates the need to archive old email to the
local hard drive on each employee machine. Over the next few months, you
will see your locally stored personal folders and archived folders being
migrated to this new network storage.
