Virus Protection Settings
- Open Norton AntiVirus by double-clicking the gold shield icon located on the bottom right hand corner of your screen in the Windows taskbar.
- Double-click the Configure folder (located on left side)
- Select File System Realtime Protection (located as a sub folder under the Configure folder)
- Check Enable File System Realtime Protection (located on right side)
- Under File Types, select All Types
- Under Options, check Display message on infected computer
- Under Drive types, check Network
- Under the Macro and Non-Macro Virus tabs
- Select Clean virus from file from the Action: pull down menu
- Select Delete infected file from the If action fails: pull down menu

Your File System Realtime Protection screen should look similiar to above screen.
- From the Norton menu on the left side, select Microsoft Exchange Realtime Protection (located under the Configure folder)
- On the right side, check Enable Microsoft Exchange Realtime Protection
- Check Display message on infected computer under the Notifications area
- Under the Macro and Non-Macro Virus tabs:
- Select Clean virus from file from the Action: pull down menu
- Select Delete infected file from the If action fails: pull down menu
Schedule a frequent scan
- Within the Norton AntiVirus program, double-click the Scheduled Scans folder (located on left side)
- If a scheduled scan has been set, review it to insure it meets your needs
- If a scheduled scan has not been set, select new scheduled scan and follow the prompts to create a scheduled scan.
Set automatic virus definition file updates
- Select the File option from the menu bar
- Select Schedule updates from the file menu
- Check Enable scheduled automatic updates
- Select the Schedule box to select daily, weekly, or monthly updates
- Set the time of day this is to occur
- Click OK
