OPEN ENROLLMENT 2010 IS NOW ONLINE FOR
Medical, Dental, Flexible Spending Accounts & Aflac

• As you may remember from the 2008 open enrollment, we were able to negotiate 12% rate caps for 2010 and 2011 calendar years.
• The good news is Gettysburg College's actual renewal would have been 9.09% for 2010.
• However, the federal mandates for the COBRA subsidy and the mental health parity act, plus the PA state mandate for autism coverage added an additional 3.25% to the premium. Therefore, our actual renewal is approximately 12.34%.
• We were fortunate to negotiate the 12% rate cap for 2011 as the prediction for healthcare increases for 2011 may be closer to 20%. Additionally, if Congress passes more mandates, our rate may be higher than 12%.
• The plan designs for PPO 1, PPO 2 and PPO 3 will remain the same.
• To encourage you to consider electing PPO 3, the plan with a highest deductible, the premiums for that plan will not increase in 2010.
• PPO 1 and PPO 2 rates will increase by approximately 12.5%.
• We encourage you to continue your participation in the annual Multiphasic Blood Screening (MBS) and the Health Risk Assessment (HRA). Highmark specifically pointed out our increased usage of the Blues On Call Plus program has helped to save the College an estimated $250,000.
