PayFlex

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) enable you to use pre-tax dollars to fund predictable health, dental, vision, prescription and/or dependent and elder care day care expenses which are partially funded or are not funded by your insurance programs and are tax deductible according to IRS Guidelines.

The major advantage of Flexible Spending Accounts is the federal tax savings you gain from using pre-tax dollars to pay predictable medical and/or dependent day care expenses. However, The Family Support Act of 1988, which went into effect on January 1, 1989, contains revenue provisions that reduce tax benefits for dependent day care expenses. The Act negates the past practice of combining "dependent day care tax credits" with spending accounts thus known as "Piggybacking". Also, keep in mind that the maximum amount per calendar year that you may reduce your salary for the Health Care Spending Account is $4000, and for the Dependent Day Care Account is $5000.

Gettysburg College is pleased to inform you that we implemented a grace period that allows you an additional two and half months beyond your plan year to incur expenses, therefore allowing you to incur expenses up untill March 15th of the following year. All receipts must be submitted by March 31st of that year. After March 31st any balance remaining in your account will be forfeited.
