Food Service Worker - Dining Services
Gettysburg College is seeking a full-time Food Service Worker (1,780 hours per year) to work in the specialty dining room of Dining Services as well as the catering department. Generally, this position will work 40 hours per week for 32 weeks of the year and 25 hours per week for 20 weeks per year. Hours for this position vary weekly depending on the needs of the department. This position performs all necessary functions required to provide food service and catering within the campus community. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: preparing service lines, verifying that food is correctly identified for the customer, logging food temperatures periodically throughout the day, and cleaning and sanitizing the serving lines in preparation for the next meal. On occasion, this position may be asked to help make catering deliveries on campus; therefore a valid drivers license is preferred.
High School or equivalent is preferred, with prior food service experience desired. Knowledge of food sanitation principles and practices is helpful. Position requires frequent bending & lifting, handling of food products & contact w/ caustic chemicals. The successful candidate must be able to read & understand simple instructions & work flexible schedules. Ability to exhibit flexibility by working in other areas of Dining Services is required.
