Documentation for I-9
There are original documents you MUST bring with you to be eligible for employment on campus. Copies of these documents are not acceptable. These documents are required to complete the Federal I-9 form. This form must be completed within three days of your first day of employment with the College. The following items are acceptable as proof of employment eligibility, as identified by the federal government. One item from List A is acceptable. However, if an item from List B is selected, then an item from list C must also be selected. We are not able to ask for specific items from any of the lists, however, we find that most students share their original driver's license (List B) and Social Security Card (List C).
ITEM ONE (one required from List A)
List A
- U. S. Passport
- Certificate of U.S. Citizenship
- Certificate of Naturalization
- Unexpired foreign passport, with I-551 stamp or attached INS Form I-94 indicating unexpired employment authorization
- Alien Registration Receipt Card with photograph (INS Form I-151 or I-551
- Unexpired Temporary Resident Card (INS Form I-688)
- Unexpired Employment Authorization Card (INS form I-688A)
- Unexpired Reentry Permit (INS Form I-237)
- Unexpired Refugee Travel Document (INS Form I-571)
- Unexpired Employment Authorization Document issued by the INS which contains a Photograph (INS Form I-688B)
ITEM TWO (one required from List B and one required from List C)
List B
- Driver's License or ID card issued by a state or outlying possession of the US provided it contains a photograph or information such as name, date of birth, sex, height, eye color, and address
- ID card issued by federal, state, or local government agencies or entities provided it contains a photograph of information such as name, date of birth, sex, height, eye color, and address
- School ID card with a photograph
- Voter's registration card
- US Military card or draft record
- Military dependent's ID card
- U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Card
- Native American tribal document
- Driver's license issued by a Canadian government authority
For persons under age 18 who are unable to present a document listed above:
- School record or Report Card
- Clinic record
- Doctor record
- Hospital record
- Day-care school record
- Nursery school record
(List C)
- U. S. social security card issued by the Social Security Administration (other than a card stating it is not valid for employment
- Certification of Birth Abroad issued by the Department of State (Form FS-545 or Form DS-1350)
- Original or certified copy of a birth certificate issued by a state, county, municipal authority or outlying possession of the U.S. bearing an official seal
- Native American tribal document
- U. S. Citizen ID Card (INS Form I-197)
- ID Card for use of Resident Citizen in the United States (INS Form I-179)
- Unexpired employment authorization document issued by the INS (other than those listed under List A)
