Frequently Asked Questions
When will my Financial Aid Package be ready?
Incoming students can expect their award to be completed between February and mid-April, while returning students' awards will arrive between mid-April and June. In general, Financial Aid Packages will be delivered more promptly if the FAFSA and PROFILE are submitted in a timely manner.
Am I required to accept the Work-Study award?
Students have the right to decline any part of their Financial Aid Package, including Work-Study. If additional funds are needed, students may apply for loans to replace the Work-Study award.
Where do I get an Authorization Packet for Work-Study?
If you are a first-year student, you'll be given one at the Work-Study meeting during Orientation. If you are a returning student, or missed this opportunity, Authorization Packets can be found at the Office of Financial Aid. A new copy of the packet must be completed and submitted each year you participate in Work-Study.
I can't find the Work Study Journal online, what's wrong?
The Work Study Journal is only available online from August 15th to April 15th. Over the summer it is taken down to be updated and revised. During the school year, you can find it at this link.
How many students find jobs during the academic year?
Between the approximately 500 Work-Study positions and the countless part-time jobs offered both on- and off-campus, about 45% of the student population is employed during the school year.
Can some of my paycheck be automatically applied to my student account?
You now have the option to apply a portion of your paycheck to your student account. By filling out both the following form and direct deposit authorization, $25 will be directly deposited into your personal bank account and the remainder will be credited to your student account.
How often will I be paid?
Students are paid on a biweekly basis, with a two-week lag between the end of the pay period and payday. Direct deposit statements are mailed to campus boxes or can be viewed by logging into PeopleSoft Self Service every payday. Work-Study students can also sign up to apply their earnings directly to their semester balance.
How do I record my hours for payroll purposes?
All offices and departments use electronic timesheets. It is important that you correctly fill out the timesheet, which can be accessed through your CNAV account. Both In and Out times must be marked with AM or PM. At the end of the pay period, submit your timesheet as approved; the supervisor will sign/lock it so that it can be processed by payroll.
What are the deadlines for submitting timesheets?
Time sheets need to be submitted at the end of your pay period. Late timesheets must be personally handled by your supervisor, and you will not be paid until the next pay period. This late processing may increase the amount of federal taxes that are withheld, so it is strongly recommended you responsibly submit your timesheets.
