The College's enrollment effort is strong. Within the past five years applications have increased 15% from 5,017 in 2003 to 5,794 in 2008. During the same time period, selectivity has improved; diversity has increased; and the discount rate has been slightly increased. Although the SAT is not required, the average Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) score of the Class of 2012 is 1300, an increase of 30 points in the past 5 years.
The College has allocated resources to attract a diverse group of top students. The incoming class includes 121 Presidential Scholars ($15,000 annual scholarship), 92 Dean's Scholars ($10,000 per year), and 72 Founder Scholars ($7,000 annual scholarship). These awards have significantly increased Gettysburg College's ability to compete for the very best students. In total, the College provides merit and need-based financial aid to 64% of students and meets 100% of need.
The financial aid discount rate is 31% of the comprehensive fee (including tuition, room and board) and 37.7% of tuition (excluding room and board).
