Subject: Presidential Search Update

This note provides a quick update on recent events related to the search for our 14th president. As promised, the Presidential Search Committee is committed to ensuring all constituencies are kept abreast of the status.
Since I last wrote we have continued the search on schedule. Notable activities include:

• A meeting with the Parent's Advisory Board - at the meeting the parents conducted a mini-workshop, where they discussed the personal characteristics and professional skills desired in our next president. This was similar to the scoping meetings we held on campus in early September. In addition, the parents identified opportunities awaiting our next president and also highlighted a number of things that should serve to attract viable candidates to our process. This input will be helpful to the search committee.

• The completion of the position profile entitled "Profile of the opportunity that awaits our 14th President." This document is available to you and will be sent to all prospective candidates. It provides a thorough orientation to Gettysburg College and highlights our many successes. You may view the position profile and the advertisement by visiting the presidential search website at www.gettysburg.edu/search.

• The advertisement has been placed by the Presidential Search Committee. The advertisement has appeared or will soon appear in the following publications: The Economist, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Diverse Issues in Higher Education, Hispanic Outlook, and Women in Higher Education.
