Annual Reports
Our 2005-2006 academic year was marked by national recognition for the academic accomplishments of our students and faculty, one of the strongest first-year classes in our history, the reopening of an historic theater, major new programs, two new academic majors, and more.
The following report presents the highlights of the 2005-2006 year at Gettysburg. Five events are particularly significant:
- The launch of our strategic planning process, which will guide us in setting priorities and marshalling resources over the next decade.
- Reopening of the Majestic Theater, which was an exemplary collaborative project of the College and community.
- Designation of one of our students as a Rhodes Scholar, a distinction awarded to only 32 Americans this year.
- Two distinctive new programs -- The Eisenhower Institute for Public Affairs and Leadership and the Leonard Bernstein Center for Learning.
- Our commencement address by Bruce Gordon '68, NAACP president and CEO, who remarked that he came to Gettysburg College to get a degree and left with a lifelong passion to further justice for all Americans.
Our efforts are focused on reaching new levels of excellence in teaching and learning -- the core of our educational mission; in attracting talented students, faculty, and staff who create our intellectually vibrant campus life; in inspiring our community of supporters, and in communicating the true breadth of our excellence to the wider world.
