In any class there may be students whose learning, progress, struggle, and success truly shine, but who nonetheless do not earn grades of the sort that contribute to their eligibility for the standard Deans' Lists. At the end of every semester the Dean of Academic Advising asks faculty to recommend for a Course Commendation students who did not earn grades better than B- or B, but whom faculty think represent the kind of learning we seek to nurture and commend. The Dean writes to each of these students to recognize the value of their accomplishments to our learning community.
