My Story from Global Study:

I always loved riding the bus with my friends from the lacrosse team I made in Stavanger. I know what you're thinking. Yes, they apparently have lacrosse in Norway. It's a fun time. They would always speak in Norwegian and I would try and listen in with my 3 months of Duolingo practice. So every time they said a word I recognized my head would kind of perk up and I could kind of follow the conversation for a couple words. They would clue in to the fact that I had recognized a word and always laugh a little as I tried to follow along like a little kid following adult conversations. We would always laugh and have a good time and those were some of my best friends I made in Stavanger.

My Advice for Future Students:

My advice to students considering study abroad is to not be afraid to jump in and go somewhere unexpected. The more you can challenge yourself and the more you can do things that you would have never before, the more you will get out of your global experience. Try going to a country where you don't know the language that well, and push yourself to learn it and meet locals. The best part of a global experience, in my opinion, is seeing a different part of life.
