My Story from Global Study:

During our first weekend in the city, a few friends and I decided to check out the Carnival festivities going on. We heard about this one street where most of the festivities were centralized around and where the parade would start, so we headed there. I knew a little about the festivities of Carnival as I had experienced it myself in a different country a few years ago; however, Argentina had its own unique traditions. When we finally reached the street, we began walking towards the dancing and music. We noticed a lot of kids were playing with what appeared to be foamy silly string and the more we walked into the crowd of people the more kids aimed the foamy string at us. By the time we reached the end of the street we were covered from head to toe in soapy foam. My host mom found it hilarious later that night as we went through some of the pictures I managed to take.

My Advice for Future Students:

My advice to any student who is considering studying abroad is don’t be afraid to stray away from the traditional study abroad experience. When I first considered going abroad, I was going to go to Europe, but upon learning about the School for International Training (SIT) program, I knew I wanted to try to push myself outside my comfort zone as well as gain research experience, so that is when I chose to look into SIT programs that encompassed my career interests. Best decision I ever made!
