FORM AND SPIRIT: The Origami Art of Peter Engel Opening Reception: Thurs., Sept. 28, 5-7 pm Artist Lecture: Wed., Sept. 27, 6 pm Gallery Talk: Fri., Sept. 29, Noon School Workshops: Sept 28, 29, times t.b.a. Original creations designed and folded by one of the foremost American origami artists and theorists. This exhibition is supported by Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA), the regional arts funding partnership of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency. State government funding comes through an annual appropriation by Pennsylvania's General Assembly and from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. PPA is administered in this region by the Council for the Arts in Chambersburg. This program is supported in part by the Adams County Arts Council's STAR Grant Program, which is funded by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency, the Adams County Commissioners, and the Borough of Gettysburg. NEGOTIATING IDENTITIES IN AFRICA AND THE AFRICAN DIASPORA Opening Reception: Friday, March 30, 5-7 pm Artist Roundtable: Saturday, March 31, 9-10:30 am This exhibition features the works of nine contemporary artists from across the country and abroad who are dealing with the problems involved in attempting to define the African/African American self. A broad range of artistic media are included (painting, photography, sculpture, installation), demonstrating both traditional and more conceptual approaches to representing visually the diversity of experience and history that today informs notions of individual identity within diasporic African communities.
