Sixth Annual Juried Exhibition

Gettysburg College’s Schmucker Art Gallery is pleased to host Adams County Arts Council Sixth Annual Juried Exhibition,which for the first time will be held as part of The Gettysburg Festival. The exhibition celebrates the talents and works of local artists, through a wide variety of two- and three-dimensional artwork. Approximately 50 exemplary photographs, drawings, prints, sculptures, paintings, and decorative arts were selected by juror Dr. J. Susan Isaacs, Professor of Art History and Curator of the Holtzman MFA Gallery at Towson University and Adjunct Curator of the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts in Wilmington.

SENIOR EXHIBITION 2009

Each student in the Senior Exhibition has worked ardently on his or her capstone senior project to demonstrate originality, dedication, and a thorough understanding of aesthetic principles.

JURIED STUDENT EXHIBITION 2009

Juror Talk: Tuesday, April 7, noon

Outstanding works from students enrolled in studio art courses in 2008-09 will be selected by a juror. Prizes will also be awarded. The Juried Student Exhibition provides students with a professional experience of submitting and presenting artwork.

SUSAN HARBAGE PAGE: Lingering Portraits

This exhibition of work by renowned photographer Susan Harbage Page explores issues of women's social and historical constraints as well as their own personal, emotional past. Page's photographs are included in numerous public collections including the Baltimore Museum of Art, Birmingham Museum of Art, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, and the Israel Museum.

The Schmucker Art Gallery is pleased to host the Adams County Arts Council Fifth Annual Juried Art Exhibition. This exhibition celebrates the artistic achievements of Adams County residents and Arts Council members. The Arts Council's mission is to cultivate an arts-rich community and support the work of local artists.

ID: Self-Portraiture in Contemporary Sculpture

The self-portraits in this exhibition examine the complicated construction of identity. The scuptors reconsider what it means to represent oneself as an art object and also question the literal and figurative boundaries of the human form in sculpture.
