Internal and External Funding:

Come learn about internal funding sources to support teaching and research that are available to full-time and part-time faculty. Associate Provosts Julie Hendon and Jen Bloomquist will also share insights into how to make your application stronger. Laura Runyan, Director of Foundation, Government, and Faculty Grants, will give an overview of the external funding application process.

How to Respond to Student Issues

Are you wondering how best to accommodating learning differences? What to do when a student stops coming to class? How to advise a student who is struggling? What to do if you suspect an Honor Code violation? How to respond to difficult interactions among students or between you and a student?  GailAnn Rickert, Dean of Academic Advising, and Kathy Delaney, Lecturer in Psychology, will join Julie Hendon to discuss ways to respond to these typical problems and what kinds of resources are available.

Building a Mentoring Network

Join Julie Hendon and Jen Bloomquist for an introduction to the process of building your personal mentoring network. Unlike traditional mentoring systems, a network approach allows you to take an active role in setting goals and identifying  possible mentors based on those goals. We will also discuss mutual mentoring, a way for peers or near peers support one another.

The Tenure Process at Gettysburg College

Provost Christopher Zappe will join us to discuss the tenure process and answer questions. Chris sees this process from many angles: he has a central role in the hiring new faculty, he reads your annual reports and evaluations, and he is a member of the Faculty Personnel Committee. Chris writes the pre-tenure letter which provides insight into FPC’s assessment of your performance to date and advice for how best to continue to the tenure review

All sessions will be held in Glatfelter 301
3:30 p.m.—4:30 p.m.
