This program gives a faculty member one course release during the academic year to provide enough time to undertake a major teaching project. The course release may be taken concurrently with teaching the course that is the focus of the project, or it may be taken prior to teaching the target course. In addition to the course release, the program provides up to $500 for expenses related to the teaching project. A detailed budget, including cost sharing, must accompany the application. Future applications for all JCCTL awards will be contingent upon submission of reports for previous funding. Applications due by February 8, 2013.
APPLICATION (DOC)
Dina Lowy, Associate Professor, History
Dina used her course release in Fall 2011 to develop a 300-level History course that would emphasize the close connections between science and technology, social institutions, and cultural values. It also provided ways to analyzing today's "global village", the changing relations between East and West, and worldwide development and environmental issues in the 19th and 20th centuries.
