Gettysburg College Honor Code Tutorial In May of 1957, the Faculty approved in principle an Honor Code and accepted in fact a Constitution for the Honor Code at Gettysburg College. With these measures, the Faculty delegated to the Honor Commission responsibility for the regulation of student academic conduct. The final responsibility for the regulation of student conduct remains with the Faculty.
The current version of the Honor Code is the result of substantial revision approved by the Faculty, Honor Commission, and Student Senate in 2006.
Students are required to comprehend the Honor Code and abide by the principles of academic honesty it promotes. A summary of faculty responsibilities is available on the College website. The Honor Code is a fundamental part of the culture of Gettysburg College. Please take this tutorial before the first day of new faculty orientation:
Below you will find six examples of a Gettysburg College syllabus. Most mention the honor code, the course grading scheme, and the assignments for the entire semester. Each has its own unique design, but each adheres to the understanding that syllabi exist as a contract between instructor and student. Feel free to examine these documents, and feel free to contact your colleagues who constructed them for additional tips and suggestions.
