Gettysburg in Avignon, France
Fall and Spring ~ All Majors ~ Group Program
Program in Brief:
This semester or academic year program at Le Centre d'Avignon is designed to meet the needs of French majors, minors or other students with a high level of proficiency in French. Students take one required language course and four elective courses. All courses are conducted in French.
Orientation:
There is a mandatory Send-Off Session at Gettysburg College for all off campus studies students the semester prior to the program. An on-site orientation is held in Avignon upon arrival.
Location:
The Institute of American Universities (IAU) sponsors this program, located in Avignon, a picturesque old city near France's Mediterranean coast which is favored by an ideal
climate.
Living Arrangements:
All students live in a mandatory homestay and take meals with their family.
Courses and Credit:
All off campus programs are worth 4 Gettysburg Course Units. In order to receive this, students must take a "full load of courses" which is equal to 5 classes on this program.
Program Dates:
Mid-August through mid-December or mid-January through mid-May.
Eligibility Requirements:
Satisfactory completion of French 301.
Program Cost:
Students pay the Gettysburg comprehensive fee (in 2008-2009 is $23,350 per semester) and receive tuition, room, board, round trip airfare from New York to Paris,
transportation to Marseilles from Paris, and program excursions.
