Gettysburg in Cologne, Germany
Fall Semester Only ~ All Majors ~ Group Program
Program in Brief:
This fall semester program offers the opportunity for students from any major to improve their German language abilities and to take a variety of humanities and social science courses in English. Students take courses in German lanuage, literature and culture, and also choose some courses taught in English from areas of the Political Science, History and Art History.
Orientation:
There is a mandatory Send-Off Session at Gettysburg College for all off campus studies students the semester prior to the program. There are also separate meetings for all accepted students at Gettysburg prior to departure, and an on-site orientation in Cologne upon arrival.
Location:
Cologne is located on the Rhine River, and is the fourth largest city in Germany. More than 54.000 students live here and study at the university, which was founded 600 years ago. Cologne's history reaches back to Roman times, and students find modern Cologne to be an exciting place to study!
Living Arrangements:
All students live in a homestay, and take meals with their family (lunches are supplied by the host family, but eaten at school).

All off campus programs are worth 4 Gettysburg Course Units. In order to receive this, students must take a "full load of courses" which is equal to 5 classes on this program.

Early September through mid-December.
Eligibility Requirements:
Satisfactory completion of one year of college-level German language.
