Gettysburg in Germany - Heidelberg University through Heidelberg College
Fall, Spring, Academic Year ~ All Majors ~ Integrated Program
Program in Brief:
This fall, spring or academic year program offers students with advanced German language skills the opportunity to directly enroll in the University of Heidelberg. Students can take classes in virtually any subject. Students take a Preliminary Course to test German Language Level, and then choose from a variety of university courses and courses taught specifically for visiting international students.
Orientation:
There is a mandatory Send-Off Session at Gettysburg College for all off campus studies students the semester prior to the program. An on-site orientation is held in Heidelberg upon arrival.
Location:
Heidelberg is one of Germany's most beautiful cities and it is also a major center of student life since the University of Heidelberg is Germany's oldest university. Located on the Neckar River in southwestern Germnay, Heidelberg offers students a glimpse of Celtic and Roman life. Students also enjoy the large number of sidewalk cafes, student pubs and excellent restaurants.
Living Arrangements:
Students live in a dormitory or apartment with German students.

All off campus programs are worth 4 Gettysburg Course Units. In order to receive this, students must take a "full load of courses" which is equal to 15-16 semester hours of credit on this program.
Program Dates:
September through December; mid-February through July.
Eligibility Requirements:
Satisfactory completion of two years of college-level German language.
