Gettysburg in Italy through Duke University
Program in Brief:
This academic year or semester program at the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies (ICCS) in Rome sponsored by Duke University, is designed for majors in Latin or Greek, and other students especially interested in classical antiquity.
Orientation:
There is a mandatory Send-Off Session at Gettysburg College for all off campus studies students the semester prior to the program. An on-site orientation is held in Rome upon arrival.
Location:
ICCS Rome is located on one of the main streets of the Janiculum, ten minutes by bus from the Piazza Venezia and downtown Rome. Located in this residential neighborhood,
students enjoy shops, restaurants, and gardens.
Living Arrangements:
Students live in the Center in shared rooms, and take their meals at the Center as well.
Courses and Credit:
All off campus programs are worth 4 Gettysburg Course Units. In order to receive this, students must take a "full load of courses" which is equal to 4 classes on this program.
Program Dates:
Early September - mid-December, late January - mid-May.
Eligibility Requirements:
Majors in Latin, Greek, Archaeology or Art History. Preference given to students with at least intermediate language ability in Latin or Greek.
Program Cost:
Students pay the Gettysburg comprehensive fee (in 2008-2009 it is $23,350 per semester) and receive tuition, room, board, and flight.
